How often will my lawn be cut?

We generally cut our lawns based on a weekly schedule.  This all depends on the time of year, weather, and growth. We work with our clients to establish a schedule that works for both parties. If you would like it cut every 7 days or every 14 days regardless of the speed of growth that is not a problem.

What services can I expect to receive from your garden care and maintenance program?

Our garden care services will include complete care of annual flowers, perennials, weeding, edging, cultivating, seasonal pruning, and debris cleanup in the gardens on your property.

Do you offer short-term and vacation landscape maintenance services?

Technical QUESTIONS

What weed control product do you use and is it safe for children and pets? ?

We use and recommend Fiesta Lawn Weed Killer. Fiesta is an effective, natural iron based broadleaf weed control product. Although Fiesta is an environmentally friendly product, it can stain the pads of animal paws, and can sensitize skin after prolonged exposure. It is advised to keep pets and children off of the treated area for three hours after the lawn has been sprayed in order to allow for product dry time.

At what height do you cut the grass?

Our standard cutting height is between 2.5 and 3 inches. We cut this high because it helps reduce stress on the lawn during hot, dry periods, and helps the grass out-compete weeds. We’re happy to accommodate requests for higher or lower cutting.

When is the right time to seed my lawn?

The ideal time to seed the lawn is from September through October. This is because, with the arrival of fall comes cooler temperature and more rain. This combination of warm days and cooler nights creates adequate moisture in the ground which creates ideal growing condition for many types of seeds.

Spot lawn repairs are generally done anytime throughout the season.

How often should I water after my lawn has been seeded?

Depending on conditions and type of seed, new grass seed will begin to emerge 5 to 7 days after seeding when moisture and soil temperatures are adequate. Proper watering is critical. The following is a recommended watering program.

  • * Until grass seeds germinate (first 10 to 14 days): Water lightly on a daily basis, soaking first 1 inch of soil.
  • * After germination: Water less frequently, but allow for deeper soaking and penetration into soil. This encourages deeper root growth.
  • * After grass becomes established: Water at the recommended level for the type of grass planted.

Overwatering can cause the seed to run off and pool in low lying areas.

Why is it important to fertilize the lawn?

Fertilizing is essential to achieve a healthy, green lawn. Knowing what to do, when to do it, and what to avoid can be tricky, especially with so many products on the market. So yes, fertilizers are important to obtain healthy and beautiful lawn. Along with this, lawn fertilizers also help in preventing weed infestation as well as drought and disease. However, it should be noted that the fertilizers should be applied evenly at a proper rate to prevent burning or leaving stripes on the lawn.

Should we use preventive grub control every year?

It is very important to use preventive grub control each year. White grubs are very destructive and can damage your lawn very quickly. Eliminating these grubs can also prevent damage from birds and animals such as crows, flickers, starlings, opossums, skunks, and raccoons.
